The City of Spruce Grove compiled data from the city's top user groups for Recreation Services and created a very interesting report which was recently presented to city council. It gives an in-depth look at the city's need for more facilities, and the value of Leisure Organizations in the City of Spruce Grove.
More than fifty leisure organizations provide valuable recreation services to residents of the City of Spruce Grove and area. Opportunities provided by these local non-profit groups can:
• Create a stronger and more connected community,
• Improve inclusion of all social groups,
• Promote healthy lifestyles and child and youth development, and
• Encourage positive economic, educational, and tourism outcomes.
The purpose of this Recreation Report is to provide Council and Administration with a simple snap-shot of a segment of these local organizations. The 2018 report has been expanded from the previous year, guided by Council’s interest to include a broader range of the types of groups highlighted. The information will guide future strategic planning to ensure the City’s recreation and leisure system is keeping pace with population growth and meeting community needs.
