Welcome to the U10 2023/2024 Ringette season!
You know its that time of year! A big welcome to all U10 SGRA participants!
My name is Anthony Wierenga and I will be your U10 director for the 2023/2024 season. I have a daughter in U12 ringette and my son plays U11 hockey in Stony Plain, which means I will be spending some time around the rinks this fall/winter. Please direct any and all questions my way especially if you are new to the sport, that is why I am here! Since there are quite a few new people to the sport in this division and there are a lot of common questions I will be looking to do a live in person info night (stay tuned for the date and location). In the meantime if you haven’t done so you can peruse the top tabs on our website as there is a lot of useful information there.
As far as scheduling we are looking at having the evaluations start the second weekend in September for U10 (I should have dates/ times coming out this week). The evaluations will consist of a prep UAA skate, UAA’s and three evaluation games. Here is an attached video for anyone not familiar with what the UAA’s are. We are also excited to welcome back Sports Evaluations as our 3rd part evaluator firm, they did an amazing job last year keeping this process fair and transparent. Please note there are no evaluations for anyone registered in Active Start.
Specific evaluation info will be posted under the evaluations tab on the SGRA website.
Volunteers:
I will require parent volunteers for the three evaluation games. Bench coaches, scoreclock/time and registration desk. Please contact me if you can help with any of those roles and I will get everyone signed up when the dates become available.
There will be more emails to follow with upcoming dates and information but please regularly check SGRA’s website for new info as well.
