Welcome to the 2024/2025 SGRA U14 Ringette Season!
My name is Michelle Thoben and I will be your U14 Division Director. This will be my first year in this role and I am excited to be a part of your child’s season and learn as much as I can. I have one daughter that plays with SGRA and is going into her 5th season. She is still in U10 and loving every minute of it! Over the past 2 years you have probably seen my name linked to the Sweetheart Tournament as the Volunteer Sign up main contact, and you will see that again this year! Just like many of you, I am busy working on that work/life balance between work and family. I will strive to be available to you for any questions or concerns. I ask for your patience during evaluations as this is a busy time as a director and as a parent. Over the next week you will receive many emails that address evaluations (team formations), volunteer requests and general ringette related information. I want to welcome Tim Burroughs to the SGRA "AA" Coordinator position. This position is intended to assist with the teams when they are formed and to grow the AA program. Thank you for taking on this role Tim!
SGRA believes in fairness and transparency in our processes and policies. We strive to have open, honest and respectful communication and I ask that if you have any questions or concerns, please remember that during the season your first line of contact will be the team manager, who will then notify me, the U14 Director, of any concerns. Keep in mind, SGRA strongly encourages the “24 hrs rule” be adhered to prior to raising any concerns. Evaluations
SGRA is happy to once again partner with Sports Evaluations Ltd. Please see the evaluation guide and evaluation criteria for important information. An email is forthcoming regarding volunteer positions. Please look at your availability now for the above-mentioned dates as we will be filling bench roles, score keeping roles and time keeping. If there is a position you would like on a day that you know works for you, feel free to let me know prior to the request.
MANDATORY CHEQUES
SGRA is requesting each player to have 3 UNDATED cheques payable to SGRA for the below mentioned mandatory items. Families (per player) will need to submit their UNDATED Jersey, Fundraising, Bingo cheques prior to their player attending their first evaluation.
- FUNDRAISING: SGRA will be introducing a new fundraiser this year where the prize is ... CASH! Each family will be required to sell only 10 tickets at $20.00 a piece. Fundraising will be (1) UNDATED Fundraising cheque for $200, (this will be cashed after coupon book sales have ended). Any changes to this year's fundraising will be communicated ASAP.
- BINGO DEPOSIT: You will be required to provide (1) UNDATED Bingo deposit cheque in the amount of $200.00, payable to SGRA excluding Head Coaches, Managers and SGRA Voting Directors. This deposit will not be cashed if your one mandatory bingo shift requirement per family is fulfilled before May 2025.
- JERSEY DEPOSIT: You will be required to provide (2) UNDATED Jersey deposit cheques in the amount of $150.00 each, payable to SGRA. These deposits will not be cashed if the jerseys are returned without damage. Jerseys will be 2 undated $150 cheques (not required for AA tryouts)
Some fun news before I close off - all families registered with SGRA are eligible for a 10% discount (over $70) at Source for Sports in St. Albert!
